Home-made blackberry wine,  with oranges from the neighbor's niece's orange tree (she lives in California).

Home-grown oranges taste like drinking very fresh Nee-Hi soda.

The wine has a fresh, fruity flavor -- but it's got the kick of a crowded mule.

Gonna make a LOT more of it next year.  Not a commodity... but a gift.

The kick of a crowded mule...I like that! Yes indeed, nothing at all like the home made version. We have been making blackberry, peach, strawberry and honey wine (mead) since the fall and it's some amazing stuff. Love it! The blackberries and strawberries were our own home grown (some wild berries too of course) but the peach and honey were not. Looked into the bees and decided nope, too much trouble. It's not like we don't already have a ton of things going. So our Mead will be local honey, gotta keep them in business right? :-) I'll throw some pictures up on my new blog of our mead. In the meantime, come check out the rabbit goodies I put together for the dogs :-) Yummy!
